This past Saturday was the San Francisco Street Food Festival, or SFSFF (which makes me giggle). As you may have guessed, it corrals dozens of food vendors into a few blocks of the Mission District for an afternoon of endless gorging.
Hubs and I met up with some friends and nommed on a wide variety of delectable delights. Josh’s favorite (pictured above), the Chicken Mole Sandwich from L’s Caffe, was almost entirely gone by the time I picked up my camera. I only got one bite!
Some might say this was a pretty popular event…
Dessert first! We sampled both the Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee and “The Yes Please!” from the Creme Brulee Cart. A nice decadent start to the festivities.
All this walking called for a drink!
Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya from Boxing Room was another thing I only got one bite of, because I was too busy savaging my Nombe Wings.
NOM indeed. Tangy, sweet, spicy, but I couldn’t even begin to guess what was on them. The flavor was so complex, and the texture of the skin blew my mind. I… I just don’t understand. Sigh.
Entertainment was all around! “Don’t H8 Dough-N8”
Even though it was hot as hell, I couldn’t resist the Corn Miso Ramen from Hapa Ramen. And I’m glad I didn’t! Mhhmmm.
This Hand Pulled Burrata Garlic Bread from State Bird Provisions was heavenly. I don’t think we spoke the whole time we ate it.
Some worked hard, others…
And the music never stopped!
Nojo offered up a Tonkatsu Sandwich (a pounded, fried pork cutlet – which I’m now realizing I never tried) and a super tangy Japanese Cucumber Salad.
Or was this Josh’s favorite? Frankaroni from 4505 Meats – a deep-fried block of mac ‘n cheese with bacon-studded hot dogs. Because, you know, of course.
Also from the guys at 4505 Meats – the “Best Damn Cheeseburger” and some Chicharrones, because clearly our fat consumption wasn’t high enough for one day.
Aaaand that’s my husband everyone! Spicy Pork Ribs from To Hyang. Also a sweet shirt.
Street art in the Mission never ceases to amaze and confuse.
Fried Chicken with Sriracha Butter. This was exactly as amazing as it sounds.
Veggie Crispy Rolls from Osha Thai were less than exciting.
My temporary tattoos, however, HELLO! Awesome.
We finished right where we started – with dessert. Sweet Potato Pie Waffles from Pinx. Holy wow. The perfect end to the day!
All in all, it was a super successful and tasty festival. There were a few things I didn’t get to taste that sold out toward the end, but there’s always next year!
